Study of resistance to Toxoplasmosis using Tachizoites surface antigens of Toxoplasma gondii in vivo
Taoxoplasma gondii is an important food-borne parasite transmitted primarily from animals to humans through meat consumption, mainly pork and lamb, as well as through oocysts shed by cats. Infection in humans can cause severe fetal malformations, ocular complications or encephalitis. Toxoplasmosis infection during pregnancy, especially in sheep, often results in abortion, representing considera...
متن کاملUsefulness of Toxoplasma gondii-specific recombinant antigens in serodiagnosis of human toxoplasmosis.
Toxoplasma gondii SAG1, GRA1, and GRA7 recombinant antigens may be regarded as tools for the detection of T. gondii immunoglobulin G antibodies in persons with chronic and acute toxoplasmosis. GRA7 is more correlated with acute toxoplasmosis. A combination of these antigens will increase the sensitivity of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.
متن کاملAnalysis of Toxoplasma gondii antigens with sera from toxoplasmosis patients.
Some proteins of the Toxoplasma gondii are recognized by IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies in patients with acute and chronic toxoplasmosis, depending on the strain and stage of the Toxoplasma. Sixty-nine sera from immunocompetent individuals were studied through the Western-Blot Test: 20 has an acute infection, 29 has a chronic toxoplasmosis infection and 20 were healthy (seronegatives). The protein...
متن کاملSurface antigens of Toxoplasma gondii: variations on a theme.
Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite with an exceptionally broad host range. Recently, it has become apparent that the number of surface antigens (SAGs) it expresses may rival the number of genera it can infect. Most of these antigens belong to the developmentally regulated and distantly related SAG1 or SAG2 families. The genes encoding the surface antigens are dist...
متن کاملDetection of Toxoplasma gondii antigens by a dot-immunobinding technique.
A sensitive assay for the detection of antigens of Toxoplasma gondii by spotting samples directly onto nitrocellulose paper was developed. The sensitivity ranged from 10 to 40 pg of antigen diluted in phosphate-buffered saline and 40 to 130 pg of antigen diluted in normal mouse serum, normal human serum, or human cerebrospinal fluid. T. gondii antigen in serum samples taken from mice infected w...
